LaGrange College will add new townhomes to its campus housing next year, thanks to generous donors.
President Susanna L. Baxter shared the plans for the 18 townhomes during the 2026 Presidential State of the College Address last week. The units will be built during this academic year with the expectation they will be ready for student occupation in August 2027.
The townhomes will be in three clusters of six homes, with four of the homes being constructed with an ADA design allowing for two students on the bottom floor and four students on the second floor, allowing students in wheelchairs to comfortably reside within the private and shared spaces. A total 76 students will be able to occupy the new dwellings.
The townhomes will be built on campus between Vernon Road and Panther Way, adjacent to the Gulley Gateway parking lot. The additional units will help address a shortage that has prevented some potential students from living on campus.
“Thanks to historic generosity, this project has already started so that we can house a growing population of students next year,” said Scott Rivinius, Vice President for Advancement.
Each home has a full kitchen, breakfast and living rooms with a half bath on the first floor with four private bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the second.
Local construction company BC Stone is the builder, which has committed to limiting disruptions in the adjacent parking areas and roads as much as possible. Students and drivers are encouraged to pay attention to the areas that are blocked off during the different phases of construction during the next year.
Additional details about occupancy and student placement will be announced in 2027.
